Music from the Kensingtons

With the COVID-19 pandemic in its early stages in March 2020, the Kensington Road (Homewood, Alabama) neighbors took to their front yards on weekends to share cocktails and fellowship while socially distanced. Ethan White, perhaps fueled by tequila, kept insisting to everyone that the neighborhood needed a band. His persistence paid off, birthing the Kensingtons, a true garage rock band of Kensington Road, Homewood residents. They practice in Sam and Mary Gentle’s garage, with Ethan on rhythm guitar, Chris Horwedel on lead guitar, Ben Leach singing, Sam drumming and Bob Blalock on bass. Amid the devastation of a deadly pandemic, the Kensingtons found joy in making music and sharing that joy with neighbors and friends.
