July 20, 2019
7 months and 3 days since
our celebration.
Mike Madness III is here! The third annual tournament for Lewy Body dementia research and awareness will be played July 20, 2019, at the UAB Rec Center in Birmingham. The tournament honors Mike Oliver, who was diagnosed with LBD in 2016.

In his own words, LBD is “like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's combined.”

Mike is a brilliant journalist, blogger and friend. And as many of his literal and figurative teammates know, the only thing more disarming than his wit is his jump shot. Twice a week Mike can be found in the gym schooling opponents half his age, draining bucket after bucket.

Despite Lewy body dementia being the second leading cause of dementia after Alzheimer's, it is not well known and often misdiagnosed. The disease received some notoriety when it was reported that Robin Williams suffered from LBD in the lead up to his death. However, research for a cure currently lacks the funding that accompanies a high-profile celebrity advocate such as Michael J. Fox for Parkinson's disease.

Please join us in raising money to find a cure.

For the last two years we've held a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Mike's honor to help raise money for LBD research and awareness. This year we're doing it again, and we'd love to have you on board.

In honor and celebration of Mike Oliver, we invite you to compete in the third annual Mike Madness 3-on-3 basketball tournament at UAB Recreation Center on Saturday, July 20.
